Youngstown police arrest man on drug charges


YOUNGSTOWN — Police found two bags of suspected heroin and 21 pills on a man during a traffic stop late Tuesday afternoon.

Reports said officers pulled over a car at South Schenley and Upton avenues on the West Side about 5:15 p.m. for running a stop sign and asked the driver, Ryan Dunegan, 26, of Youngstown, if there was anything illegal inside.

Reports said Dunegan told police no and gave them permission to search the car. When he got out, an officer noticed a bulge in his shorts that was a cigarette pack. When Dunegan took the pack out of his shorts, a plastic bag fell to the ground that had a dose of suspected heroin inside, reports said.

There was also a dose of suspected heroin inside the cigarette pack and 21 oxycodone pills, reports said. Dunegan was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of drugs/heroin and possession of drugs.
