Warren police investigating gas station robbery

WARREN — An employee at the Pit Stop gas station, 1708 Youngstown Road, reported a man attempted to rob the store at 2:15 a.m. today while holding what appeared to be a tire pump.

The clerk said the man walked up to the drive-thru window and “brandished an object that looked similar to a tire pump ... and demanded the money from the store. He was heard stating that he didn’t want to hurt the [clerk] and that he needed the money for his kids.”

The clerk closed the window on the drive-thru and called 911.

Another witness said the man, about 18 to 21 years old, traveled away from the store on a red bicycle.
