Ohio deputy suspended after DUI charge

HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — A veteran sheriff’s deputy in southwest Ohio has been suspended for six weeks after he was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones says 52-year-old Rob Reiff was charged after Hamilton police responded Sunday night to a call of an accident with injuries. He says the off-duty deputy failed to control his car and struck a parked car. He was treated at a hospital for injuries.

Jones says Reiff is suspended, must complete drug and alcohol counseling and is under warning that future disciplinary action could result in termination. A court hearing is scheduled today.

Jones says Reiff is a 19-year veteran who understands the seriousness of the matter.
