Hubbard ranked first in D3

Fresh off its 49-15 win over Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, the Hubbard High football team captured the top spot in the second weekly Associated Press state poll.

The Eagles (4-0) garnered 14 first-place votes and 220 points overall, moving up one spot from last week.

Their opponent this Friday, Poland (4-0), is ranked sixth in Division III after defeated Columbus Watterson 27-16.

Cardinal Mooney (3-1), which defeated two-time defending state champion Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary last weekend, is seventh in Division IV. The Cardinals’ lone loss came against Pennsylvania power Imhotep in Week One.

McDonald (4-0) moved into the top 10 in Division VI, grabbing the sixth spot after a 49-13 win over backyard rival Mineral Ridge.

In Division VII, Western Reserve (4-0) earned two first-place votes but still ranks third behind Maria Stein Marion Local (which earned 21 first-place votes) and Glouster Trimble.

Western Reserve will play host to McDonald in two weeks.
