Boardman woman arraigned on assault charges

BOARDMAN — Melissa Riddick, 41, of Carter Circle appeared today in Mahoning County Area Court for her arraignment on several felonies, including assaulting a police officer, and four misdemeanors.

Riddick pleaded not guilty to two charges of domestic violence, one of resisting arrest and one of aggravated menacing.

She will appear in court again within 15 days for a preliminary hearing on two felony counts of assault on a police officer and one felony count of obstructing official business, as well as for a hearing on the misdemeanors.

Police arrested Riddick on Saturday at her apartment. They found her intoxicated and fighting with her children, including a 12-year-old boy who claimed Riddick bit him.

Riddick reportedly tried to strike an officer, break the window of the police cruiser and then kicked an officer after she was taken to a hospital.
