Warren police said man shot in hip was uncooperative
WARREN — An 18-year-old Willard Avenue man suffered a gunshot wound to the hip and leg Friday night on Brier Street Southeast.
The man said he was walking on Brier Street near Duke Avenue Southeast when the shooting occurred at 10:59 p.m.
A Warren police officer heard four gunshots at that time in the area of the Trumbull Homes apartments not far from Brier and Duke.
Warren police dispatch received a 911 call at about 11:02 p.m. from individuals indicating that someone had been shot in the 1800 block of Burton Street Southeast, also not far from where the victim reported being shot.
The man was uncooperative with police, but his injury consisted of a gunshot to the hip that traveled down and out his leg. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Burton is the same street where three men were shot last week, but the detective said he doesn’t believe Friday’s incident is related to the earlier gunfire on Burton.
