Mom arrested after striking Boardman officer

BOARDMAN — Police arrested Melissa Riddick, 41, of Boardman on charges of obstructing official business, domestic violence, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest at 5 p.m. Saturday at a Boardman home.

Police were dispatched to her home and noticed a 12-year-old boy crying in the front yard who had claimed Riddick, his mother, had bit him. He said she was in the home, fighting her other son.

Police found Riddick in the home, intoxicated. Her other son claimed she was "out of control." Police arrested her and she tried to strike the officer. When she was put in the police cruiser, she tried to break the window.

Police transported her to a hospital. While in the hospital, she kicked an officer.

Police then sent her to the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office jail. She has a court date set for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
