Arms Museum to host Military Appreciation Weekend

In conjunction with the opening of the Veterans Resource Center at Youngstown State University, The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will honor active-duty military personnel and veterans by hosting a Military Appreciation Weekend at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave.

The event will take place Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. each day.

Admission to the Arms Museum will be free for all current active-duty servicemen and women, veterans and their families during the event. Outdoor activities will include games and crafts for children, a basket raffle, food and drink.

The Historical Society also will host special guest speakers at 2 p.m. each afternoon. On Saturday, Rick Williams from the Veterans Resource Center will speak and take visitors on a tour of the new facility.

Nonmilitary families can receive half-price admission with donations of nonperishable food items or toiletries that will be sent to the Youngstown Veterans Clinic.
