CANADENSIS, Pa.
Authorities say they have found items abandoned or hidden by the suspected shooter in last week's deadly police barracks attack, including an AK-47-style weapon and ammunition.
Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said Sunday that authorities believe they're hot on the trail of an alleged gunman they describe as a survivalist with a grudge against law enforcement.
Thirty-one-year-old Eric Frein remains at large, despite the intensive search of the neighborhood where he lived with his parents in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains.
Police are urging residents to take "extreme caution" as the search focuses primarily on a several-square-mile area along the border of two counties.
Authorities say Frein used a high-powered rifle to open fire from the woods near a police barracks on Sept. 12, killing one trooper and wounding a second.
