Numerous downtown streets will be closed to vehicular traffic at various times from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the discretion of the police department for the Steelathon Race.
The streets are: Walnut Street from Front to Wade streets, Wade Street from Walnut Street to Wick Avenue, Wick Avenue from Commerce to Spring streets, Bryson Street at University Plaza, East Bound Service Road from Elm Street to Fifth Avenue, Lincoln Avenue from Hazel to Phelps streets; Phelps Street from Lincoln Avenue to Rayen Avenue, Rayen Avenue from Phelps Street to Wick Avenue and Commerce Street from Wick Avenue to Walnut Street.
Stabbings probed

Police are trying to figure out whom to charge after three people were stabbed at a North Portland Avenue home on the West Side about 4:10 a.m. Friday.
Chief of Detectives Capt. Brad Blackburn said Jerome Atkins, 39, Rosalyn Turner, 42, and Arieonna Smith, 20, all suffered stab wounds, though Turner and Smith were discharged quickly from St. Elizabeth Health Center after being treated for their injuries. There was no update on Atkins. Blackburn said Atkins and Turner are each blaming the other for the incident. He said prosecutors are being consulted before deciding who, if anyone, should face charges.
Academy deadline
The deadline for Ohio students to seek nomination to the four military service academies for 2015 admission through the office of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Cleveland, is Thursday.
Each year, Brown nominates up to 10 students for each service academy — the Air Force Academy in Colorado; Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md.; Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.; and Merchant Marine Academy, Great Neck, N.Y. — requiring congressional recommendations.

Library board
WARREN
The Trumbull County commissioners appointed Karen B. Scher of Warren to fill an unexpired term on the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library board of trustees.
Scher was appointed to fill the remainder of the term of Lynn Miller through Dec. 31, 2019.
Scher has bachelor’s degrees in English and music from Hiram College and is the president of OMBEA USA, an educational technology company. Other board members are Michael McGee, president; Donald Emerson Jr., vice president; James McFarland, secretary; James Duff, Melissa Lattanzi, and Franklin Manios.
Meeting planned
YOUNGSTOWN
The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association will meet Thursday at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd. Refreshments and social time will be at 6 p.m., and the business meeting at 6:30.
Two representatives from the Youngstown Police Department will give a presentation about concerns Brownlee Woods residents have discussed at previous meetings. Councilman John R. Swierz, D-7th, will be in attendance to discuss issues concerning the Brownlee Woods community.
All association meetings are open to the public.
