Police cited one person on drug charges and found needles on another man they arrested on a warrant Thursday in separate incidents.

About 8:40 p.m., police pulled over a car on the South Side driven by 20-year-old Demario Hoyt of Boardman at East Auburndale Avenue and Southern Boulevard for running a stop sign.

Police asked Hoyt several times if he had anything illegal in the car and he told officers no, reports said.

Hoyt got out of the car and a police dog sniffed the air around the car and detected drugs, reports said. When police checked, they found six pills in the center console.

Hoty was given a citation for running the stop sign and a citation for possession of dangerous drugs and released, reports said.

Later, officers pulled over another car on the South Side driven by 20-year-old Anthony Stipcianos of Youngstown at West Indianola Avenue near Oak Hill Avenue for failure to yield. Reports said when an officer asked if he had anything illegal, Stipcianos said he had two needles with him, reports said.

A records check also revealed Stipcianos is also wanted on a warrant for failing to appear for a hearing in municipal court.

He was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and taken into custody on the warrant and placed in the Mahoning County jail.
