Swimming classes for kids at JCC

The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will begin offering swimming classes in October taught by an American Red Cross water-safety instructor. Membership is not required to sign up for classes.

The You & Me Baby class, for children 6-36 months old, will take place Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. This is a four-week class in which parents will assist their children in the water. Children will learn how to float on their backs and bellies and improve their motor skills. Swim pants or diapers are required. The cost is $15 for members and $30 for nonmembers.

The Dolphins class, for children age 3-5, will take place Saturdays from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Children will be taught basic swimming skills, pool-safety rules and water games. Classes are offered on a monthly basis, and space is limited. The cost is $15 for members and $30 for nonmembers.

The Sharks class, for children age 6-12, will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Children will be taught basic swimming skills and pool safety while gaining confidence and self-reliance in the water. These classes are offered on a monthly basis, and space is limited. The cost is $35 for members and $50 for nonmembers.
