Oral arguments are set for 9 a.m. today in the Thomas D. Lambros Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in downtown Youngstown in a lawsuit by some General Motors Lords-town employees against the company and the United Auto Workers union.

The suit, filed in April 2011, alleges that former Delphi employees were hired at higher wages than the plaintiffs, who had more seniority. The plaintiffs say that violated the union contract.

United Auto Workers Local 1112 refused to file a grievance on the workers’ behalf, according to the lawsuit. The hearing will be before District Judge Benita Y. Pearson.

A man wanted on a warrant also had nine pills in his car when police pulled the vehicle over during a traffic stop about 12:25 a.m. Thursday on the South Side, reports said.

Dustin Martin, 27, was pulled over in front of a home in the 300 block of East Avondale Avenue, and a records check revealed he was wanted on a warrant from municipal court on a traffic charge.

When police searched the car, they found the nine pills near the steering wheel. Martin was booked into the Mahoning County jail on the warrant as well as a charge of possession of drugs.

A driver’s-license number or the last four digits of a Social Security number are needed.

National Voter Registration Day, which started in 2012, takes place every fourth Tuesday in September and is designed to remind and encourage eligible Americans to prepare to exercise their right to vote.
