WARREN

Allen L. Elkins IV, 30, of Haymaker Avenue Northwest and Seneca Street in Niles, could get about 70 years in prison for his role in a June home-invasion burglary on Adelaide Avenue Southeast.

Elkins was indicted Thursday on two counts of aggravated burglary, three counts of felonious assault, one count of kidnapping and one count of robbery, all with specifications that he is a repeat violent offender, which could add 10 years to his sentence if he’s convicted.

Police say he was one of three males who kicked in the rear door of a home in the 1500 block of Adelaide at 1 a.m. June 21 and shot a 29-year-old resident in the lower leg.

The shooting victim had a gun and fired back, apparently hitting Elkins. The victim said Elkins also shot a large dog in the head before leaving.

Elkins was charged with misdemeanor cruelty to animals in Warren Municipal Court, but that charge was dismissed in July.

Meanwhile, a Kinsman man charged earlier with falsifying military discharge papers to get Purple Heart license plates has been indicted on seven counts of tampering with records and one of forgery.

Keith D. Chandler, 33, of Bushnell-Campbell Road, is charged with tampering with his discharge papers in 2009 and tampering with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicle registration paperwork two times each in 2011, 2012 and 2013. If convicted, Chandler could get several years in prison.

Denzil Chaney, 23, of Fifth Street Southwest and Royal Mall Drive in Niles is facing a lengthy prison term if he’s convicted of charges he faces.

He is indicted on two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of robbery, one count of felonious assault and one count of aggravated burglary. If convicted of all the charges, he could get about 50 years in prison.

The aggravated burglary is related to an incident on George Place Southwest in which a man held a gun to the head of a 23-year-old woman at her home on George Place Southwest on July 17.

Marcus A. Chaney, 26, of Kenilworth Avenue and Commerce Avenue also is indicted in the July 17 incident, charged with aggravated burglary, which carries a prison term of up to 10 years if he’s convicted.

Meanwhile, Martice Hughley, 35, of Palmyra Road Southwest is facing the possibility of about 50 years in prison after being indicted on six high-level drug charges.

Hughley is indicted on single counts of heroin possession, cocaine trafficking, heroin trafficking, cocaine possession and two counts of illegally manufacturing drugs.

The indictments say he was responsible for nearly 12 grams of cocaine and nearly 16 grams of heroin.

Geovanny P. Davila, 30, of Fifth Street Southwest, was indicted on two counts of felonious assault in a July 4 incident on Lane Drive Southwest that resulted in a man being shot on Arnold Drive Southwest. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
