Bar association makes endorsements

WARREN

The Trumbull County Bar Association has chosen two incumbent Ohio 11th District Court of Appeals judges in its Judicial Preference Poll.

The poll indicated preference for Judge Timothy P. Cannon and Judge Cynthia W. Rice. Both are Democrats running for re-election to six-year terms which begin in early February.

Preferred candidates must receive more than two-thirds of the votes cast, said Shibani Sheth Massucci, 11th District Court of Appeals magistrate and president of the bar association.

Cannon, of Painesville, is opposed by Atty. Ron Tamburrino of Rock Creek for the seat. Rice, of Brookfield, is opposed by Atty. Geoffrey W. Weaver of Kirtland.

There are five judges on the court, but only Judges Rice and Cannon are up for re-election this year. The court reviews common-pleas and municipal-court decisions from Trumbull, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula and Portage counties.
