Faerie Gardens

When: Saturday, 10- 11:30 a.m. or noon-1:30 p.m.

What: Make a faerie garden that any good faerie would not be able to resist.

Details: For age 6-17. Cost is $12.

MAKING SOAP AND MORE

When: Saturday, 1-4 p.m.

What: Barbara Lyons demonstrates how to make your own antibiotic-free liquid hand soap, laundry soap, face mask and lip gloss. Receive a sample of each item, as well as Barbara’s hand-crafted soap, and a glycerin soap of your creation.

Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center Visitors Center, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva.

Details: Registration required; limited to 16 adults.

Gardening Basics: Design Theory II

When: Tuesday, 1:30- 3 p.m.

What: Learn to look at gardens from a designer’s point of view. Review basic elements of design, then Bridget Beck will introduce some famous and other gardens and what makes them “work” as pieces of art. Also discuss sustainable design and contemporary design. Bring sketches and notes on your home garden design projects for studio time at end of class.

Plant Parts & Patterns: Leaves

When: Wednesday, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

What: Enjoy a stroll through Fellows Riverside Gardens as you learn basics of botany, patterns of plant families, parts, patterns and arrangements of leaves. Return to Davis Center for seasonal lunch with dessert.

Fee: $16; FFRG members, $12.

Garden Gnomes

When: Next Thursday, 1-2 p.m.

What: Explore Gardens in search of these delightful creatures. Enjoy a snack and craft.

Fee: $5.

Details: For ages 3-5, plus guardian.

DOWN ON THE FARM: JOHN T. HUSTON BARNYARD

When: Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

What: Afternoon of activities at Huston barn, a hayride, simple snacks and farm animals.

Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center Barnyard, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva.

Cost: Free
