LaBrae dismisses QB Jenkins

Staff report

LEAVITTSBURG

LaBrae High senior quarterback Justin Jenkins has been dismissed from the football team.

The Vindicator’s televison partner, WFMJ, reported on wfmj.com that LaBrae athletic director Todd Rowe confirmed that Jenkins was dismissed for an athletic violation. Rowe would not discuss the nature of the violation.

According to WFMJ, the only comment of LaBrae Superintendent of Schools Anthony J. Calderone was, “If this is a disciplinary matter, it is the policy of the school to handle such matters internally.”

Efforts to reach football head coach John Armeni were unsuccessful.

Jenkins, 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, had rushed for 217 yards and passed for 314 yards as the Vikings got off to a 3-0 start.

LaBrae begins All-American Athletic Conference National Division play on Friday at home against Jefferson, also off to a 3-0 start.
