Fire causes $3K damage to vacant South Side house

YOUNGSTOWN — A fire at a vacant 318 E. Ravenwood Ave. home on the South Side about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday caused about $3,000 in damage.

Reports said there was heavy smoke showing and a large hole was burned in the wall on the side of the home on the second floor. The fire spread to the attic where it burned through the roof and crews had to get inside to put it out.

One firefighter was slightly injured. The cause is listed as under investigation.
