A 21-year-old city man is recovering from gunshot wounds to the kidney and hand he suffered at 12:57 a.m.Sunday on Peace Avenue Northwest from what one witness described as a dozen gunshots fired by several men.

Police will try to talk to the shooting victim, Jeremiah Allen, of Reo Boulevard Northwest, today.

He is in Cleveland MetroHealth Hospital. His condition is not known.

He was in surgery Monday but is expected to survive.

Police say he was standing in the neighborhood talking to someone when the gunfire erupted.

A witness reported seeing five to six males getting out of a car and chasing after a Ford Explorer while shooting at it.

The males ran into the woods afterward.

Police say they don’t know yet who was driving the Explorer.

Another witness saw three to four males chasing the Explorer.

The Explorer was found in the yard of a house in the 500 block of Peace near Douglas Street Northwest.

It had a shattered rear window and several bullet holes in the back, as well as heavy front- end damage.

Police believe it struck a parked Oldsmobile Royale.

A parked Pontiac Sunfire also had a shattered rear window from gunfire, police said.
