Police are investigating a shooting on Peace Avenue Northwest early Sunday that left a city man with at least one bullet wound in a Cleveland hospital.

Jeremiah Allen, 21, is in Cleveland MetroHealth Hospital this morning. The hospital would not release his condition.

One witness on Peace Avenue reported seeing five to six males getting out of a car at 12:57 a.m. and then chasing after a Ford Explorer while shooting at it.

In all, the witness said there were about 12 shots fired, and the shooters ran into the woods afterward.

A police spokesperson was not available this morning to clarify whether Allen was in the Explorer.

Another witness saw three to four males chasing the Explorer. That witness said a second car also drove along Peace Avenue NW, and someone inside that car also shot at the Explorer several times.

The Explorer was found in the yard of a house in the 500 block of Peace Avenue near Douglas Street Northwest. It had a shattered rear window and several bullet holes in the back, as well as heavy front end damage “as if it struck another vehicle,” police said.

Police found bullet holes in the siding of a home in the 2200 block of Peace Avenue. A Pontiac Sunfire parked there also had a shattered rear window, police said.

A third car, an Oldsmobile Royale, was found in the parking lot in the 2100 block of Peace Avenue NW with heavy damage to the front end and passenger side.
