There will be a tour of the historic Oak Hill Cemetery, 344 Oak Hill Ave., beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. Steffon W. Jones, a local historian, will conduct the free tour. If there is inclement weather, the tour will take place at 1 p.m. Sept. 27. For information, call Jones at 330-259-2091.

Rededication planned

BOARDMAN

In honor of World Peace Day, Rabbi Joseph Schonberger will lead a ceremony to rededicate a Peace Pole in front of Boardman Center Middle School at 1:30 p.m. Friday. The Peace Pole originally was dedicated in honor of Holocaust survivor William Vegh. Vegh’s daughter, as well as teachers and students, will attend the ceremony. The public is encouraged to attend.

Artists sought

The Davis Family YMCA is seeking artists for its second annual “But I Know What I Like” art show. The show is open to adult amateur and professional artists within a 40-mile radius. Art drop-off dates are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 27 at the YMCA, 45 McClurg Road. An opening reception is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 5. Pink ribbon T-shirts

Members of the police department are selling YPD Breast Cancer T-shirts to benefit the Pink Ribbon Classic breast-cancer research event at Youngstown State University on Oct. 26. 23rd MS Super Walk

YOUNGSTOWN

The 23rd annual Multiple Sclerosis Super Walk 2014, a four-mile course through Mill Creek MetroParks, will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Wick Recreation Area. Registration is at 9 a.m. Walkers secure donations on either a per-mile basis or a flat amount. Prizes are awarded based on the amount of money raised and turned in Sunday to benefit MS. Prizes are: Raise $125 or more, receive a Super Walk sweat shirt; raise $75 to $124, receive a Super Walk T-shirt. The walker raising the most money receives a 22-inch flat-screen television. Second prize is a pair of running/walking shoes up to a value of $100, and third prize is a $50 gift certificate. Fall fish sale

CANFIELD

Ohio landowners wishing to stock their ponds and lakes may purchase fingerling-size fish at the fall fish sale of the Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District, which will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Canfield Fairgrounds, Coliseum 8. Fish purchasers must bring lined containers filled with their own pond water. Call 330-740-7995 for more specific instructions and to order fish. The deadline to order is Oct. 10. Available fish include fathead minnows, white amur, bluegill, channel catfish, yellow perch, bass, shell crackers and crappies.

Young drivers training

The Tire Rack Street Survival Teen Driving Schools is offering a training course for licensed drivers 15 to 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 at Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road. The cost is $75 per student, and some insurance companies offer premium discounts to graduates. Michelin North America supports the Street Survival program by providing funding for pavement rental for schools throughout the United States. Tire Rack Street Survival, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, says it teaches teens the skills they need to stay alive behind the wheel primarily through hands-on experiences in real-world driving situations and in their own cars.

Burglary probed

YOUNGSTOWN

Police reported a burglary occurred about 1:15 a.m. Sunday at a South Portland Avenue home. Police responded to an alarm sounding at the residence and observed a back door that was forced open. Officers searched the home but found no suspect. The homeowner arrived not long after police searched the home and reported someone had taken two flat-screen televisions worth about $2,000. Police are still investigating the case.

Car reported stolen

An East Boston Avenue woman from a single-family home called police to report her 2012 Jeep Compass as stolen at 8:15 a.m. Sunday. The woman told police she remembered seeing the vehicle outside her residence when she went to bed at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, but she noticed it missing in the morning. She said keys for the vehicle were missing as well.

Vintage car cruise

HUBBARD

People gathered Sunday at Harding Park for the seventh annual Taste of Hubbard & Vintage Car Cruise. The event introduced people to local cuisine from restaurants, cafes and bakeries in Hubbard and its surrounding communities. Proceeds from the event went to the reconstruction of the historic 1857 Harding Park Meeting House. The event was organized by the Harding Park Meeting House Committee, Hubbard CARES, Hubbard Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and the Harding Park Board.

Facing drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested Justin Frehs, 34, of Youngstown at 3:31 p.m. on charges of possessing drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Police observed Frehs walking along Canfield Road and noticed he resembled a wanted suspect. Police arrested Frehs and removed an uncapped needle and spoon with burn marks from his pocket. Police transported Frehs to the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office. He has a court date set for today at the Youngstown Municipal Court.

Tools, appliances stolen

YOUNGSTOWN

A case of breaking and entering was reported to police a little after 2 p.m. Sunday at an Arden Avenue home. The victim said the garage and home were broken into sometime after 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Nearly $10,000 worth of tools and appliances had been taken, the victim said. Police said the detective division would investigate the case.

Hilton Ave. burglary

YOUNGSTOWN

A Hilton Avenue resident reported a burglary at her home around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The victim reported a 43-inch LG flat-screen TV and a PS4 had been taken from her residence. She said she suspects neighborhood kids were responsible. Police said the detective division would investigate the case.
