Youngstown police investigate 2 burglaries on West Side today

YOUNGSTOWN

City police reported a burglary occurred at about 1:15 a.m. today at a South Portland Avenue home. Police responded to an alarm going off at the residence and observed a back door that was forced open. Police searched the home for a suspect with no results. The homeowner arrived not long after police searched the home and reported someone had taken two flat-screen televisions worth about $2,000. Police are still investigating the case.

Later today, a Silliman Street resident called to report a burglary at her home at about 11:30 a.m. The resident said she suspected someone had damaged her rear storm door at about midnight Sunday. She mentioned she has heard of several other similar incidents in the area.
