BOARDMAN

A woman will be in court Tuesday, and a man is being sought after they were accused of severely beating a 15-year-old boy who was in their care at a Glenwood Avenue residence.

According to a police report filed Friday, the victim told police that the male suspect assaulted him after a family dispute. He said the suspect struck him all over his body, once with a wooden stick and then 50 to 70 times with an extension cord after the wooden stick broke.

The boy tried to flee, at which point Peaches Martin, 23, is accused of holding him down while the male suspect punched the victim’s upper body and face several times.

The victim then was able to escape to the house of a neighbor, who took him to police, according to the report.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

When police questioned Martin, she told police, “Yes, he got a beating” and voluntarily showed them the wooden stick and extension cord.

She was arrested Friday on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence and a felony charge of endangering children.

She is free on bond and will be in court for an arraignment today.

Police issued an arrest warrant for the male suspect Monday.

Mahoning County Children Services has been notified about the case.
