ELYRIA — Two people face felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 28 pounds of marijuana, worth approximately $127,000, after a traffic stop in Lorain County.

Troopers stopped a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, with California registration, for a following-too-closely violation on the Ohio Turnpike at noon Thursday. Criminal indicators were observed and a patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable-cause search revealed 28 pounds of marijuana located in the rear cargo area.

The driver, Joanna Garcia, 24, and passenger, J. Gildardo Herrera-Martinez, 42, both of Los Angeles, were placed in the Lorain County Jail, and charged with trafficking and possession of marijuana, both third-degree felonies.
