TODAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., will serve a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. The meal consists of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, bread and butter, pie and a beverage. The cost is $7. No reservations are necessary. THURSDAY

Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $7.50, and they will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers are provided.

FRIDAY

Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi for $6 per dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up starting at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6 per dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., sells potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi on Fridays. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 to 11 a.m. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-in orders are welcome.

SATURDAY

Braceville United Methodist Church, 589 Park Road S.W., in the center of Braceville, will be serving a stuffed pork chop dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. or until the food runs out. The dinner includes mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, coleslaw, applesauce, homemade desserts, bread, and coffee, tea or punch. The cost is $9 for adults and $3.50 for children. Takeouts will be available.

Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., across from the post office, will sell dinners of creamed chicken on biscuits from 4 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The cost is $8 per person. Meals include green beans and dessert. Drive-through pickup is at the back of the church.

Greenford Ruritan Club will host a pancake breakfast and basket raffle from 7 to 11 a.m. at South Range School cafeteria, 11300 Columbiana-Canfield Road (state Route 46), Canfield. The cost is $6 for adults; $3 for ages 6 to 12; and free for kids under 5. Proceeds will go to the South Range Senior Scholarship Fund. Tickets and basket donations will be accepted by Ruritan members or Roller Reprographics, 11952 South Ave., North Lima, or call 330-549-0377. Tickets also will be available at the door.

High Pointe Church, 5716 Struthers Road, Lowellville, will serve a free pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. For a donation, patrons can enjoy an all-you-can eat breakfast or brunch. Buffet items will include eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and mushrooms, coffee, orange juice and other beverages. Reed’s Chapel AME Church, 1939 Jacobs Road, Youngstown, will host a breakfast buffet from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10. The menu consists of eggs, sausage, bacon, french toast, grits, home fries and toast. Eat in or take out. The meal is sponsored by Pettway’s Food-2-Go for the benefit of Mount Hope Veterans Memorial Park, Inc.

SUNDAY

Holy Apostles Parish at St. Stephen of Hungary Church, 854 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, will host a stuffed cabbage dinner from noon to 3 p.m. The menu comprises two stuffed cabbages, mashed potatoes, salad, vegetable, bread, dessert and coffee, tea or bottled water. Carryouts are available. Adult tickets are $10 and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets will be sold at weekend Masses or by calling 330-743-1905. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Sts Cyril & Methodus Church’s social hall, 252 E. Wood St., Youngstown, will serve spaghetti dinners with two meatballs, salad, bread and butter, cake, coffee and tea from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meals cost $7 for adults and $4.50 for children 12 and under. Takeouts will be available after the 8 a.m. Mass and at the dinner with no extra charge for containers. Quarts of chicken noodle and barley vegetable with ham soups and homemade vanilla and anise pizzelles will be for sale. The event is hosted by Our Lady of Sorrows Seniors Club.

Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., will serve a Swiss steak dinner from noon to 3 p.m. The menu includes gravy, mashed potatoes, corn or green beans, tossed salad, rolls, cake or pie and beverage. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for 7 to 12, and free for children 6 and under. Carryout will be available. Tickets will be sold at the door. For information call 330-755-8233.

Western Mahoning County Kiwanis will host a Swiss steak dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. in Canfield. Adult tickets cost $12, for children 4 to 9 they are $7.50, and kids under 3 eat for free. Purchase tickets at the door.

TAKING ORDERS

Ladies Circle of Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown, will be having its semiannual vegetable soup sale on Friday and Saturday. The cost is $6 per quart; take your containers. Orders are requested by calling the church office at 330-799-9390.

Bessemer Presbyterian Church, 29 N. Main St., will serve a ham loaf dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 1. Meals are $9 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12 and free for kids 5 and under. Croatian Center, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown, will host a buffet Nov. 2 featuring chicken noodle soup, stuffed chicken breast, oven roasted lamb, Croatian potato salad, roasted potatoes, rice, vegetable, beet salad, hot pepper and cucumber salad, bread and butter, coffee and tea and dessert for $14.95 for adults and $7.50 for children 12 and under. Reservations are a must by Oct. 31. No takeouts will be available.

Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., will be the site of a ham loaf sale Nov. 10 from noon to 3 p.m., sponsored by its Lydia Circle. The individual-size loaves cost $2.50 each and must be ordered by Nov. 4 at 330-545-4361.

Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., North Lima, will host its annual kolbasi and sauerkraut dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 1. It will include mashed potatoes, applesauce, bread, beverage and homemade pie. Takeout and curbside pickup are available. Tickets are $9 for adults, $4 for kids 7 to 12 and free for kids under 6. Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive, Youngstown, will have a fish fry fundraiser from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14. The menu includes fries or macaroni and cheese or haluski, tossed salad, dessert assortment and a beverage. Adult meals cost $8 in advance or $8.75 at the door, kids meals cost $3.95 for ages 6 to 12 and free for kids under 6. Takeouts will be offered. New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, will host its annual turkey dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 1. The meal will include all the trimmings and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children 5 to 12, and free for children under 5.

Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Road, Austintown, across from the Meander Bridge, will have its annual turkey dinner and bake sale Nov. 15. This year dinners are carryout only. All dinners are $9. Call 330-652-1596 for orders Saturday through Nov. 9. Dinners can be picked up at 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30. Enter through the handicap entrance. All meals include generous portions of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, coleslaw, cranberry salad, rolls and pie of your choice.

Springfield Township E.M.S. Auxiliary/Association will sell beef tips and noodles dinners from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at St. Paul Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown. Donations will be taken for the dinners, and all proceeds go to the auxiliary/association. Takeouts will be available.

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, will host its monthly Sauce and Songs program Nov. 2 with a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the church social hall. It will include salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Carryouts will be available and containers will be provided. The dinner costs $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Funds will benefit First Night Youngstown. A concert will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and will feature harpist Kirk Kupensky and cellist the Rev. Vit Fiala. Donations are welcome. Struthers Rotary Club will have its 59th Annual Pancake and Sausage (and Egg) Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Struthers High School Cafeteria. Proceeds benefit the scholarship fund. Tickets for the breakfast can be purchased from any member of the Struthers Rotary or at the door. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children under 12. There also will be a 50-50 raffle. Assisting will be the Struthers High School Interact Club, Boys and Girls Basketball teams, Boy Scout Troop 101 and the Struthers Rotary Community Corp. Also at this year’s breakfast, the Struthers H.S. Drug Testing Committee has been invited to sell the “Defend Struthers” T-shirts. The YSU Rotaract Club also will be there.
