WEST FARMINGTON — A 46-year-old Hiram man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on state Route 88 in Farmington Township at 12:40 a.m. today.

Troopers from the Southington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating the crash, which was west of state Route 534.

Charles E. Moats was pronounced dead at the scene. He was driving a pickup truck, which sustained heavy front-end damage.

He was westbound on Route 88 when he failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off off the right side of the roadway into a heavily wooded area and struck several trees. Moats was not wearing a safety belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle, the patrol said.
