Two men arrested after one of them fired shots at a Hubbard city police officer were arraigned by video Wednesday in Girard Municipal Court.

Jeffrey Irby, 26, of Fort Wayne, Ind., remains in the Trumbull County Jail on $2.5 million bond plus house arrest should he be able to post it.

Irby was a passenger in a car a police officer pulled over about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on West Liberty Street at the Circle K across from the municipal building.

He fled, and an officer chased him. Police said Irby is accused of firing between three and seven shots at the officer.

He is charged with felonious assault and improper handling of a firearm.

Jason Duecaster, 30, of Steel Street, Youngstown, remains in jail on a $250,000 bond. He is charged with felonious assault, improper handling of a firearm and driving under suspension.

Both men are expected to be back in court next Wednesday.

Police Chief Jim Taafe said Duecaster stayed with the car when Irby fled.

Police apprehended Irby in a yard on Clingan Street at 12:07 p.m. after a manhunt involving several police departments.
