EXPLORERS

When: Today, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

What: Explorers age 7-11 will be introduced to animal behaviors and observation techniques. Participants will spend time outdoors deploying wildlife cameras to record the presence and possible behavior of the Nature Center’s wildlife residents. Spend time indoors and outdoors; be appropriately prepared.

Botanical Delights: Ginger

When: Today, 6–7:30 p.m.

What: Exploring the history of ginger along with its culinary and medicinal uses. Mandy Smith shares some warming treats as you learn how to make ginger candy. Learn how wine is made and discover what varieties of grapes are used in the process with Chalet Premier. Enjoy wine samples, snacks and an evening at the Gardens.

Creative Creekers: Turkeys

When: Friday, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

What: For ages 8-12. Discover the incredible style of seed/crop art by Lillian Colton. Learn about turkeys as you create your own crop art-inspired turkey.

Cost: $7 for Mahoning County residents, $8 for nonresidents.

Where: Ford Nature Center, 840 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown.

Garden Gratitude Flags

When: Saturday, 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 1 to 2:30 p.m.

What: For ages 6-17. Express your thanks of this abundant season by making weather-resistant Gratitude Flags to place in and around your garden.

Birding by Habitat

When: Tuesday, 7-8 p.m.

What: Cheryl Harner of Greater Mohican Audubon Society and Richland County Master Gardeners will group birds by habitat and highlight some of the best plants and places for specific species.

EVERGREEN WREATHS

When: Nov. 30, 2-4 p.m.

What: All materials will be provided for you to create your own evergreen holiday wreath.
