Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer guardianship program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference Day projects. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., has planned the following: Wednesday, VIP birthday party for all seniors 50 and older with May birthdays at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $6 for dinner, which comprises steak, parsley potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls and dessert. Reservations are required, and bingo will follow at 1 p.m. Friday, toe-nail clipping will be provided by Dr. Tom Pokabla from 9 a.m. to noon by appointment. Insurance cards must be presented. This will be a monthly service at the center. Free cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure checks will be done from 9:30 a.m. to noon by Rashaun Speed, a registered nurse from Humility of Mary Health Partners Neighborhood Health Watch. Fasting is suggested but not required.
