TALES FOR TOTS: Snakes

What: Who smells with his tongue? Bring your toddler to learn about these scaly serpents through story and craft. Children will also get to meet one of these slithering friends.

MCCTC Spring Plant Sale

When: Begining Monday till they run out. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

What: Support the future of the horticulture industry by purchasing annuals and unusual plants. Plants are grown by the horticulture students. Shop early, quantities are limited.

Starting Seeds for Fall Crops

When: Tuesday, 6-8 p.m.

What: Join Iron Roots Farm staff members for class on thinking ahead to fall crops. Learn about seeds and plan transplant schedules, including hands-on demonstrations.

Where: 822 Billingsgate Ave., Youngstown, in HMHP Foundation Demonstration Kitchen.

FFRG Spring Plant Sale

When: Next Thursday, 4-7 p.m.; May 9, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; May 10, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

What: Unique quality plants for home garden at this Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens Plant Sale. Perennials (sun and shade), annuals, herbs, vegetable, trees, shrubs and more.

Newton Falls Plant Exchange 2014

When: May 10, 9 a.m. to noon.

Where: JC Pavilion, Center Street, Newton Falls.

What: Meet and trade plants with other gardeners. Bring at least six plants (more are always welcome) to swap. Fancy pots not required. Live music and refreshments.

Jubilee Gardens KickOff Event

When: May 22, 11:30 a.m.

What: Jubilee Gardens celebrates opening of the gardens with kickoff event at First Presbyterian Church, Youngstown, where gardeners, other community members gather for lunch and keynote speaker Christina Perry of 30-Mile Meal Project. Also, day gardeners can pick up seeds and plants for their own use.
