Man charged with drug offenses at check point

WARREN — Bond was set at $2,500 for a Hermitage, Pa., man charged with felony and misdemeanor drug offenses after a Trumbull County Sheriff’s Deputy found suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia in his car during an OVI check point early Saturday on state Route 46.

Michael P. Ghiates, 29, of Wick Ave., was released after posting bond in Warren Municipal Court and pleading not guilty to felony aggravated drug trafficking and misdemeanor possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.

A sheriff’s deputy said he found several hypodermic syringes, two of them with suspected heroin in them, a spoon, four bags of marijuana, 12 pipes, and a scale on the floor of the car at 12:20 a.m.
