Hydrant flushing to begin Wednesday
WARREN
Trumbull County Sanitary Engineers will begin flushing fire hydrants Wednesday. The flushing crew will be in these areas throughout the month: Vienna, Brookfield, Hubbard, Liberty and some areas of Howland.
Customers in those areas may experience temporary discoloration in their water; it is not harmful and should clear within one to two hours of flushing in their area.
If discoloration continues for more than two hours after crews have left an area, call the sanitary engineer’s office at 330-675-2775.
Flushing is a planned process in the water-distribution system to improve water quality by removing stagnant water, sediment and excessive mineral deposits from the inside walls of the water mains and discharging them out of the system through fire hydrants.
Food certification for Second Harvest

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley has received a food-safety certification from the AIB International, formerly known as the American Institute of Baking.
The food bank receives food from major retailers and wholesalers as well as USDA commodities, and because of food-borne illnesses through the food system in recent years, many national vendors that produce food are looking to work with food banks with an AIB certification, said Mike Iberis, executive director.
