In a letter to backers Thursday, DeWine wrote that the submitted petition language did not include a required circulator statement, and signatures from residents of multiple counties were included on one petition instead of separate ones.
“Because of these two fatal errors, you did not submit the required 1,000 valid signatures from registered Ohio electors,” the attorney general wrote. “As a result, I am unable to proceed to a determination on whether the summary you submitted is a fair and truthful summation of the matter you submitted.”
