Youngstown police investigating weekend shootings
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
City police are investigating two shootings that injured two people early Sunday.
Police were called to the Pizza-N-Gyro Place on Market Street about 4:30 a.m. to find Samuel Richard, 25, of Youngstown, lying in the parking lot with several bullet wounds to his chest and one in his arm. Richard was surrounded by a crowd of about 20 people, but those in the crowd told police they neither saw nor knew anything.
Richard was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Police noted that an upper-floor window of a nearby building had been shattered.
In the other incident, police were called about 3:30 a.m. Sunday to the 300 block of East Auburndale Avenue on a report of a shooting. When they got there, they couldn’t get anyone to come to the door so they forced their way in. A woman then told them that the shooting victim, Brandon Williams, 23, of Youngstown, had been taken to the hospital.
Police checked the home and found a bulletproof vest with what looked like a single bullet hole in it in the basement along with two rifle magazines and a small plastic bag of suspected heroin.
