Boardman school board, teachers agree to new pact

BOARDMAN — The board of education reached an agreement with its teachers’ union on a three-year contract tonight.

The old contract expired Sunday.

Under the terms of the new pact, teachers will receive no increase in base pay the first year. They will receive one percent annual increases in each of the final two years of the contract.

Teachers will contribute up to 10 percent toward their health-care coverage over the next three years.

The contract is a positive one for the Boardman schools, said Frank Lazzeri, superintendent.

It will expire June 29, 2017, and is effective immediately. There are approximately 290 teachers in the union.
