McDonald Firemen's Festival starts Wednesday

The 81st annual McDonald Firemen’s Festival will take place Wednesday through Saturday on the village green across from the municipal building at Ohio Avenue and Fifth Street.

The McDonald Firemen’s Social Organization sponsors the annual event.

A parade will kickoff activities starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ohio Avenue at Second Street and proceed to the top of Ohio Avenue, ending at Marshall Road.

The parade will include the McDonald police and fire departments and other area fire and police departments from Girard, Weathersfield, Brookfield and other Trumbull County communities.

The list of parade participants also includes baseball teams, Boy Scouts and some local companies, organization secretary Terri Kish said.

The festival will be open nightly from 6 to 11 p.m. Bingo will be nightly from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Ramsey Pavilion.

The midway rides will be furnished by Premium Shows of America of Masury, and Thursday will be wristband night.

Individual tickets are $1 each.

Kids games will be available from 10 a.m. Saturday for children age 3 to 15. Games will include an egg toss, water balloons, penny scramble, pie race and other games.

The annual closing fireworks is scheduled for 11 p.m. Saturday. The fireworks will be presented by Colonial Fireworks of Clayton, Mich.

Food concessions will be available on the midway each night.
