Woman tries to drive away from officer writing her a ticket
YOUNGSTOWN
Police say a woman tried to drive away from an officer downtown who was writing her a parking ticket.
Reports say the officer was working a downtown detail about 10:55 a.m. Thursday when he spotted a car illegally parked on Commerce Street. As he was writing a ticket, a woman later identified as Taylor Moore, 22, of Elm Street, walked out of a downtown building and began yelling at the officer and was very irate.
Reports said the officer told her to calm down and he would be finished in a minute, but Moore got in her car, rolled up the window, backed up and then turned down Phelps Street, where she was driving south, reports said.
The officer ran after her and she had to stop when she was blocked by another car that stopped in the street to let someone out, reports said.
However, Moore refused to get out of her car or roll down the window. It took several officers to get her out, reports said.
Moore was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of driving under suspension, fleeing and eluding and failure to comply. A records check showed she also had a warrant through municipal court but reports did not say what that warrant was.
