Mayor John A. McNally appointed Jamael Tito Brown, who he beat in last year’s Democratic primary for mayor, as his representative to the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District board of directors. The MVSD operates Meander Reservoir, source of the city’s drinking water.

The appointment is for three years, which began Wednesday and ends June 24, 2017.

Brown is a former 2nd Ward councilman and city-council president.

Also, McNally appointed Porfirio Esparra Jr. to the city’s board of health. That term expires March 31, 2019.

Unseen City Tour

WARREN

The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County will provide a look at the inside of the Robins Theater, 160 E. Market St., for the first time in about 40 years during the Unseen City Tour, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The tour starts and ends with the Robins, which closed in 1974. Along the way, the tour also will include other “hidden” locations, such as the Masonic Lodge, new Artisan Cafe on Main Street and a view of Market Street from the highest commercial building in Warren. A $7 donation is suggested.

Dog first-aid course

NORTH JACKSON

The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley will present its Dog First Aid course from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Youngstown All-Breed Training Club, at 13210 Mahoning Ave.

Pre-registration is required. Register at www.redcross.org or call 800-733-2767 and ask for Offering No. 03009642. The $50 fee includes a Dog 1st Aid manual and DVD.

Learn everything from rescue breathing and CPR to how to treat dehydration, bone and soft-tissue injuries, poisoning and even how to rescue your dog from choking.

Mannequins will be provided for the training. No live animals are allowed during the class. For information, call 330-392-2551.

The following streets will be affected by the Officers Down 5K Run/Walk, beginning and ending at the Oh WOW! Children’s Center for Science and Technology, from 6 a.m. to noon Sunday: West Federal between South and Fifth avenues; Fifth Avenue between Commerce Street and Oakhill Avenue; and Mahoning Avenue between Oakhill and West Boulevard.
