MAHONING COUNTY

Austintown: The Austintown Historical Society will host its 38th annual ecumenical service at 8:30 a.m. next Friday at Austin Log Cabin, 3797 S. Raccoon Road. The Fitch Color Guard will present the colors as a Fitch trumpet player performs “To the Colors.” Keynote speaker is the Rev. Charles Cole of Austintown Baptist Church. A continental breakfast will follow.

Austintown: Austintown’s 38th annual Fourth of July parade will begin at 2 p.m. next Friday on South Raccoon Road and proceed to Kirk Road north to Falcon Drive.

Boardman: Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road, will host an Independence Day celebration with fireworks at 8 p.m. July 6. The United States Army Field Band will perform at 8 p.m., and fireworks will follow. Take a lawn chair or blanket. Concessions available.

Youngstown: The 13th annual Lansingville 4th of July parade and gathering will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of St. Matthias Church, 915 Cornell Ave. Revelers will then leave at noon to travel to Mahoning County Preschool/Adams Alternative Program, 2800 Shady Run Road. Youngstown: The Youngstown Area Community Concert Band will give an Independence Day concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Judge Morley Pavilion at Wick Recreation Area in Mill Creek Park. The band will play an all-American program with a finale of patriotic music. The show will feature Maureen Collins of Easy Street Productions, who will sing Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America,” and Youngstown Mayor John McNally, who will read the Gettysburg Address as the band performs music from the movie “Gettysburg.” Other selections from the show will include Broadway show medleys from “Oklahoma” and “Jersey Boys.” The music of other states will be featured, including Tennessee and Ohio.

TRUMBULL COUNTY

Niles: The city of Niles will host its Fourth of July parade starting at 2 p.m. Sunday in downtown Niles. The parade will take place in conjunction with the second annual Harry Stevens Hot Dog Day event, from noon to 8 p.m. the same day.

MERCER COUNTY

Mercer, Pa.: “A Patriotic Extravaganza” will be the theme of a July 4 concert at Mercer County Courthouse Square. Makin’ Changes will provide warm up music at 6 p.m. for the Mercer Community Band at 7:30 p.m. Vocals by Gregory McClelland and flute by Josephine Kost will be featured. An ice-cream social with the Mercer Band Boosters will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the events will move to the Mercer High School auditorium.
