The Youngstown Area Community Concert Band will give an Independence Day concert at 7 p.m. July 2 at Judge Morley Pavilion at Wick Recreation Area in Mill Creek Park.

The band will play an all-American program with a finale of patriotic music. The show will feature Maureen Collins of Easy Street Productions, who will sing Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America,” and Youngstown Mayor John McNally, who will read the Gettysburg Address as the band performs music from the movie “Gettysburg.”

Other selections from the show will include Broadway show medleys from “Oklahoma” and “Jersey Boys.” The music of other states will be featured, including Tennessee and our Ohio.

The YACCB will also host its seventh annual “Music in the Park with Friends” event at 4 p.m. July 27 at the Maag Stage in Boardman Park. The guest band, or “friend,” for the 2014 concert will be the Salem Quaker Community Band.

Both concerts, as well as all YACCB performances, are free.

The YACCB will perform pre-game concerts for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on July 5 and 19, as well as at the Summer Festival of the Arts at Youngstown State University, Buhl Park in Mercer, Pa., and Firestone Park in Columbiana.
