A fugitive who has been the subject of federal manhunts in West Virginia has been captured in Mexico.

The Pittsburgh Post- Gazette reports that 43-year-old Eugene Cobbs, who is originally from Philadelphia, was arrested without incident Monday. He was returned to the U.S. and is being held in Los Angeles pending extradition to West Virginia.

Cobbs had been sentenced to federal prison after a 2004 plane crash in West Virginia that was carrying $24 million worth of cocaine. But in 2013 he escaped from a low-security prison in Morgantown.

Authorities say he avoided capture in Mexico by using false names and living in multiple locations.
