Doubledays top Scrappers in 10th

AUBURN, N.Y.
The Auburn Doubledays scored twice in the eighth inning to force extra innings, then scored the game-winner in the bottom of the 10th to beat the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 4-3 in a New York-Penn League game on Monday at Falcon Park.
Osvaldo Abreu led off the bottom of the 10th and reached second base on a throwing error at third. He then moved to third on a wild pitch. One out later, he scored on Matthew Page’s single to center.
Greg Allen had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run for the Scrappers (4-7), who led 3-1 entering the bottom of the eighth. Francisco Mejia added two hits and a RBI.
Cameron Hill started and pitched four scoreless innings, giving up two hits and no walks while striking out two. James Stokes (0-1) pitched the final 11/3 innings to get the loss. He gave up one hit and struck out three.
Jake Joyce (1-0) got the win in relief by pitching a scoreless 10th. Raudy Read had two hits and two runs for the Doubledays (6-6). Page also had two hits.
Mahoning Valley begins a five-game homestand today against Batavia.
