Safe, Clean and Green expo is Tuesday

Staff report

WARREN

The Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership will sponsor the Greater Warren Safe, Clean and Green Expo from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Wean Foundation, 147 W. Market St.

According to TNP, the city is facing a significant challenge regarding how to use all of its land that once was home to more than 68,000 people.

The adoption of the city’s comprehensive land-use plan in 2009 encouraged the city to identify and incorporate green, sustainable methods, practices and initiatives into future planning and redevelopment opportunities.

The expo will be used to connect local government, residents and neighborhood groups with these concepts for improving the quality of life in Warren.

The expo will offer panel discussions, 15 exhibitions displayed in Courthouse Square by private, government and sustainability-based organizations, and programs on local and statewide practices for a stronger economy and healthier community.

Keynote speaker Shanelle Smith, director of Emerald Cities Collaborative Cleveland, will share knowledge of best practices from the community, labor, business and government sectors.

TNP aims to demonstrate the importance of land use, beautification and green infrastructure to the creation of successful, sustainable neighborhoods.

The expo is in conjunction with the Warren Farmer’s Market, offered every Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. Participants are urged to pick up fresh, local produce after TNP activities.
