YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown metro area placed No. 4 on SpareFoot’s new list of America’s top 15 hubs for solo entrepreneurs, the storage experts released Friday.

SpareFoot — a Texas-based company that helps with finding and booking self-storage units — looked at how the number of solo entrepreneurs, or “solopreneurs,” has grown recently in the 100 most populated U.S. metro areas and how well solopreneurs are faring.

Solopreneurs own and operate businesses that do not have any employees.

SpareFoot ranked the metro areas by examining five economic measures related to solopreneurs. Data came from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The complete list includes: 1. McAllen, Texas; 2. Allentown, Pa.; 3. Chattanooga, Tenn; 4. Youngstown; 5. Akron; 6. Detroit, Mich.; 7. Bakersfield, Calif.; 8. Richmond, Va.; 9. Tulsa, Okla.; 10. Kansas City, Mont.; 11. Buffalo, N.Y.; 12. Des Moines, Iowa, 13. Oklahoma City, Okla.; 14. Grand Rapids, Mich.; 15. Daytona Beach, Fla.
