Safe Sleep Community Forum is Monday

The Youngstown Office on Minority Health will host a SIDS Network of Ohio “Safe Sleep Community Forum” event at the YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave., from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday. The event is free.

The Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Network of Ohio promotes infant safety in an effort to reduce the rate of sleep-related infant deaths.

Featured speakers will be Dr. Arthur James from Ohio State University, speaking on infant mortality from a statewide prospective; Dr. Stacy Scott of the SIDS Network, talking about changing a baby’s position; and Dr. Elena Rossi from Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, who will provide local practices to save Valley babies.

The event is part of a collaborative with the Youngstown Office on Minority Health month, SIDS Network of Ohio, Ohio Commission on Minority Health and the Ohio Equity Institute of Mahoning/Youngstown and the Ohio State University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
