YOUNGSTOWN

Retrouvaille of Youngs-town is a peer ministry that teaches a new communication skill to troubled married couples.

The program begins with a weekend seminar and continues with a six-session follow-up.

In the Diocese of Youngs-town, Retrouvaille will conduct a weekend on Aug. 22-24 at Villa Maria Educational and Spirituality Center, 2105 Evergreen Road, Villa Maria, Pa. Registration is $100 per couple plus donation.

Polka Mass

YOUNGSTOWN

Holy Apostles Parish plans a Sts. Peter and Paul Feast Day polka Mass and picnic luncheon June 29 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 421 Covington St.

The polka Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. with the Eddie Vallus Band. The picnic luncheon will be in the social hall.

Cost is $5 in advance and $6 at the door for adults and $3 in advance for children 6 and younger and $4 at the door. Tickets will be sold at Masses this weekend or call the central office at 330-743-1905.

Guest speakers

AUSTINTOWN

Eric and Melinda Wolford will be guest speakers at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at West Austintown First United Methodist Church, 6749 Mahoning Ave.

Eric Wolford is entering his fifth year as head football coach at Youngstown State University, where his wife is an assistant professor in the school of psychology.

The couple founded No Stone Unturned, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support and research of children with health issues and/or disabilities. Their son, Stone, has cardio-facio-cutaneous syndrome, a rare genetic disorder.

Clergy breakfast

POLAND

A breakfast for clergy in ACTION (Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods) is scheduled from 9:30 to 11 a.m. July 1 at Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor, with the Rev. Robbin Del Nagro as host.

This will be a time to reflect on faith, values and traditions with Pastor Dwayne Heard.

Bishop Murry makes appointment

YOUNGSTOWN

Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown has appointed Dr. Thomas Sauline as administrator of the diocese’s Child Protection Policy, including safe environment coordinator and victim assistance coordinator, effective July 1.

This appointment is in addition to his current position as a catechetical consultant for the Office of Religious Education.

Sauline earned a bachelor of arts and a master of arts in biblical studies from the Anthenaeum of Ohio and a doctorate in ministry from St. Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology in Wickliffe, Ohio.

He began ministry in the Diocese of Youngstown in 1989.

He is actively involved in ecumenical ministries, serving on the board of the Mahoning Valley Association of Churches and co-chairing the Lutheran-Catholic Dialog.

He is diocesan liaison for the Loyola Institute of Ministry Extension program, and instructs facilitators in “Treasured Gifts from God,” the diocesan child protection in-service program.

He also writes Scripturechat, an online reflection on the daily Scripture readings.
