YOUNGSTOWN

Brian P. Benyo, president of the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition, is now a member of Gov. John Kasich’s Executive Workforce Board. His term began in May.

Benyo is a founding member of the MVMC, “an alliance formed to convene, educate, charge and mobilize the region’s key stakeholders to initiate actions that will stabilize the economy and provide opportunities for individuals and families in the Mahoning Valley,” according to a MVMC press release.

Benyo serves as president of Brilex Industries — a worldwide source for fabricating, machining, complete machine assembly and design upgrades.

Kiwanis meetings

30th anniversary

On April 25, Pharmacy Data Management Inc., a provider of pharmacy benefit solutions, celebrated its 30th anniversary as an independent claims processor providing services to the pharmacy benefit industry.

Since founding PDMI in 1984 in a room over his family’s Youngstown-area pharmacy, Doug Wittenauer has grown the privately held company into the 10th-largest U.S. PBM based on revenue from unbundled services, according to Business Insurance magazine’s 2011 “Data Snapshot.”

Program for startups

SHAKER HEIGHTS

LaunchHouse, a business accelerator, recently broadened its investment focus to include hardware and robotics startups and is now accepting applications for a 16-week fall program.

All broad-based technology startups are encouraged to apply at www.launchhouse.com/lhx.

In partnership with the NASA John H. Glenn Research Center, this program will grant 10 startups a $20,000 investment, as well as access to resources, mentors and advisers.

Yachts of Fun festival

Quaker Steak & Lube will host the Yachts of Fun Family Festival on Friday at the Lube grounds, 101 Chestnut St.

The event is free to the public, but the benefit concert featuring the band, Great White, has an admission price of $7 at the gate or $5 at the gate with a canned-food donation.

The festivities will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, and the following day Quaker Steak & Lube will host the Fake Fest. This free festival will feature tribute bands and starts at 5 p.m.

This year there will be an expanded children’s area. Guests will feast on traditional Quaker Steak & Lube favorites.

Heritage gets grant

COLUMBUS

Heritage Ohio of Columbus recently received a $7,500 PNC Foundation Grant to support the revitalization efforts in Ohio’s Main Street communities. Heritage Ohio is a statewide, nonprofit preservation organization dedicated to preserving Ohio’s heritage and cultural resources.
