Vice-squad officers made several arrests Wednesday and early Thursday and issued citations on drug and prostitution charges.
About 12:06 a.m. Thursday, reports said officers spotted 25-year-old Arquella Marrow of Cleveland flagging down a car in the 100 block of West Glenaven Avenue, an area known for prostitution. A car stopped for her, and she got in.
Police pulled the car over and discovered Marrow was wanted on loitering and drug-paraphernalia warrants from municipal court. During a search of her purse, police found two used needles. She received additional charges for loitering and drug paraphernalia and was taken to the Mahoning County jail. The driver of the car, Hanson Murphy, no age or address given, was given a traffic citation for improper backing.
About 7:15 p.m., vice officers pulled over a car in front of a home in the 200 block of East Lucius Avenue for a traffic violation, and the driver of the car gave officers permission to search it. Inside a purse belonging to the passenger, Tari Altenberg, 46, of Leetonia, they found two doses of suspected heroin and two crack pipes. She was taken to the jail on charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug-abuse instruments.
The driver, Edward Altenberg, no age or address listed, her husband, was issued a citation for having an obstructed view and released.
About 4:55 p.m., vice officers saw Angela Viglio, 33, of Youngstown walking on Hillman Street in an area known for prostitution and flag down a car that stopped in the middle of the street. Viglio then got in the car, reports said.
Police stopped the car and found Viglio had failure-to-comply and possession-of-drug-abuse-instruments warrants through municipal court, reports said. She also was charged with loitering to engage in prostitution and taken to the jail.
The driver of the car, David Schwartz, no age or address listed, was issued a citation for impeding the flow of traffic, reports said.
