Electricity savings

If the demand for electricity gets too high because of hot weather, Youngstown State University will reduce consumption for eight hours as part of an agreement with the university’s power company.

Ron Cole, YSU spokesman, said those reduction periods have occurred in other years. The university ceases chilled water and air conditioning.

“We haven’t had to do that yet” this summer, he said. “But surely there will be a time in the summer when that will happen.” People on campus were notified this week of that potential.
