HUBBARD

Police searched for several hours Thursday for a man who fled while they tried to serve him a warrant.

Ted R. Frisch, 42, who lives in the Stonybrook Village Mobile Home Park on Stonybrook Drive in Hubbard Township, ran when police arrived at his home around 11 a.m., said Hubbard Township Police Chief Todd Coonce. Frisch was still missing late Thursday, and police were looking for tips leading to his whereabouts.

Frisch is wanted on a felony robbery charge over an incident at his residence May 11.

Coonce said Frisch beat up his girlfriend and stole her cellphone.

The theft is considered a felony because of the assault, he said.

After Frisch ran, Coonce said, he jumped over a fence separating the trailer park from Interstate 80 and landed in a truck weigh station.

A state trooper saw him there, and he and the Hubbard officer chased him over both lanes of the interstate where he escaped into woods near Gale Avenue and Churchill Road in Hubbard Township.

Hubbard Township, Hubbard city, Liberty Township and Weathersfield police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol searched the woods but did not find him.

Coonce said police believe he used railroad tracks that pass by the woods to make his way to Liberty. They traced his cellphone to an area near Madison Street and Interstate 80 in Liberty Township, then they lost the trace, he said.

Frisch has blond hair and blue eyes, is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 195 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with cut off sleeves and tan jean shorts.
